Questing

As a species we quest for food, warmth, shelter and we've complicated the system to achieve those things to such a degree that it seems truly a quest for those who wish to undertake it. Yet, for others, it is no quest, barely a challenge to have fine food, divine warmth, magnanimous shelter. The only difference I see between those who quest and those who are mildly challenged is belief and an enormous lack of fear that it will not be. So there it is. The only difference between our quests and the difficulty is the amount we perceive and believe we should have.

On and on

Picture of a new addition to the family. Baby shower for an upcoming addition. A couple of readings. It was an eventful and cherished Sunday. Cherishing moments with friends and family is an acquired skill. Compassion applied to the self is then more easily applied to others and helps us to develop the skill of cherishing; helps to bring about the Two of Cups.

Two of cups has such a sweet vibration. I enjoy it when it comes up in my own readings because whatever the subject matter, this card speaks to union, compassion, old stress put to rest, love. :-) Sweet.

Third time is the magic

Tried three times over the last two days to post about this card and, each time, have gotten interrupted by the small of life. There we are. :-) The Magician is a strong will and a strong personality. He is manifestation consciousness (what the hell is that?) and can manipulate circumstances, energies to his advantage and goals.

Graced by positive, he is the energy of bounty, healing, and compassion. Graced by negative, he is the energy of self-absorbed advancement, subversive agenda and indifference.

Should I stay or should I go now

There is a point to leave a situation or a moment. Is that a negative thing? If something is a feel bad, then no, in my opinion. Self needs to be listened to and a feel bad needs to be reviewed, learned from. That can't always be done in the situation or moment. So if you need a minute or 300 minutes, seems that it's a good idea to take them, regroup, brutally understand your feelings/thoughts and bring a surer you to the next situation or moment. Or not. :-) Why this subject and not that, who knows...thought of several things to write about but this is the one that spewed. You have to wonder about the meanderings of the musings. Well, you don't have to but I do. Or not. :-)

Opportunity

In an attempt to create a modicum of monetary comfort and even, possibly early retirement......:-)......I have started this blog to promote my tarot consultation services. An Ace of Discs/Pentacles, whichever you prefer, endeavor.

An opportunity and/or beginning of success and/or prosperity. An easing of the way. A change in some material aspect that is a manifestation of the querent so believe it when you see it. You asked for it, you got it, now go for it, full steam ahead, no holds barred. At one point, I will run out of cliches, sayings and slogans....a long ways down the road.........................:-)

Ode

In a come what may kind of way today. Oi vey. So here it is in a nutshell: too much overtime for which I am grateful and which is why I have no brainpower left to come up with anything remotely smacking of cleverness. Hence, the opening sentence. And the run on sentence after. Ode to stream of consciousness. :-)

Change

Has the weather in the NE been a poster child for the one constant in life, or what? Change by the minute it seems like. Keeps me guessing and on my toes.

Change is inevitable. A smooth, graceful transition is represented by the Two of Pentacles/Discs. It can but does not usually reside next to tempestuous cards as it represents more of a segue than a dramatic change. A card that personifies 'don't sweat the small stuff' and 'it's all good.'

Work to do

The Ace of Wands...wait, before I go further, was just reading an interpretation of the card. Googled it, of course, because, as a young'un recently told me, Google knows everything. The interpretation doesn't quite fit mine. As it should be, I suppose. We filter meanings through our experiences no matter how detached we become in the actual reading process. Some of us put a lot of stock in the symbolism, some of us don't. Bottom line for me, a good reader will meld with your esoteric sense and choose the words that impart, to the fullest, the meaning of the layout. Along with being detached, they will have little or no information about your question and little or no investment in whether they are right. You want clear, ego-less, involvement from your reader when your cards are read. Oi vey, I do go on. So the Ace of Wands; the suit of industry, career and a beginning.

It is a beginning of a new career or change to an old one. It is an industrious card representing a very clear opportunity. It is also a symbol of the mental and/or physical work by the querent; exciting because it really is an opportunity that was desired and manifested. Visualize and it will be; no, wait, if you build it they will come; hold on, hold up, you are what you think. :-)

Moments

Yesterday, I tripped on time and, at this minute, I trip on moments. Most of us have a tendency to think in future or past and not in moment. Many times, we are in moment, relating a past memory or future plan or desire to the current moment. Do we take moments within those moments of living to truly take in that moment? The smell, the light, the faces, the textures...The more time we spend in true moment, the more vibrant each becomes; as if we've never experienced those same things before. No small mental feat. Moments of emotion bring us very much into the moment. The Ace of Cups, the threshold of love.

It is the beginning of love or the renewal of love towards a new or established relationship, a passion or a pursuit. It's a harbinger of good karma and, at the same time, an opportunity to practice compassion and love. It is a reminder that each moment is or can be a beginning. Happy beginnings!

Time

We spend so much time worrying about time. This hour scheduled daily, appointment at that hour on that day, hurrying to meet those hours and days. I have not had a clear idea this week what day it was--Tues was Wed and Fri was Thu--couldn't get a handle on which day I was living. (What drugs you ask? Actually, what work schedule--4 a.m. start time but I'm digressing.) The discombobulation of the days kind of made the hour trivial in comparison and shifted my view to the experiences that filled them rather than to hour watching (made for some interesting days at work too).

So it is chilly and densely overcast; and a Sunday. This I know as my windows and Windows tell me so. It has been the prized laze-around Sunday and the overcast lends a cozy feel (an unspoken permission) to guiltless do nothing. Including not worrying about time. :-) No card featured--just some stream of consciousness...

Spring, parte deux

Not really part 2, it's more like spring part 30 as these 'weather throw back' days have been scattered throughout nice weather since spring 'ended'. It is summer. It is not recognizable as such. Maybe it's the volcanoes, earthquakes and nuke plants, oh my! Whatever it is, it is and I didn't dress for it so had a chilly pattooty the whole day....that might be a little too much information. :-) Ace of Swords is sort of a tempestuous card. Let me Google and grab a pic so you can see what I mean. Hold on a sec...

It signifies the beginning (and ending) of a stage. Aces are beginnings and swords represent the challenges we encounter in life. Some may term them struggles but challenges is more apt. The Ace of Swords can signify scaling a new hurdle and, depending on the surrounding cards, can be a wanted or unwanted challenge. For most, it seems to come up as an unwanted struggle. There is strength in this card and the challenge of disruption of material, emotional or mental well being. It is a portent but also an opportunity to grow. Kind of like our weather: it is sunny hot then, every week or two, a cold blast to ensure complacency doesn't set in. How we dress for it is a measure of how well we are doing with our awareness.................wait....ah well. ;-)

Perceived

The Fool is a faith card for me. He steps off the cliff in total faith that he will be safe. Kind of like Peter Sellers in 'Being There'; walking on water because he believed he just could. It's been said and written many times: it's all perception. A reading is a reflection of one's perception with a smattering of future that is changeable because it is all perception. Acceptance of this is having the attitude of The Fool.

Discern

It is an amazing thing to write several paragraphs or speak for 3 full minutes and have one factor be heard out of several put forth. It is, I'm fairly sure, not so much an issue of using the correct wording but more a function of individual discernment. At times, I have found myself insulted by what is the take-away for a person. Yet, maybe that factor is the one they needed to hear or maybe it was what they could absorb at the moment. So why take it personally? All I can say is, it's an amazing thing to discern one's ego is in the way and be able to talk enough sense to it so it can rest until the next time it needs discerning. :-)

Dream

Most don't pay attention to their dreams. We dream and we attribute the contents to a rehashing of the day, the burrito we had for dinner, the level of stress in our lives. They are much more, in my experience. Key words here: in my experience. The disclaimer: not an expert in dreams, (psycho) analysis, etc. We can lucid dream, precognitive dream, psyche dream (made this term up :-), to name a few. Lucid dreaming, being conscious but not thinking/reacting from conscious mind (at least not the way we do when we are 'awake'). Precognitive dreaming, simply put, knowing before it is true; many deja vu experiences come under precognitive. Psyche dream, the acrobatics of figuring ourselves out and who we want to be. That's a lot of function from one function. It's good to pay attention to your dreams and work with them. Attempt lucid dreaming, journal your dreams, become aware of working out the mental works. Deciphering dreams can be better entertainment than the NYT crossword puzzle and are usually a much clearer window into the soul than your baby blues or honey browns.

The flyer revisited

I've been told by a very respected colleague that the font on my flyer is unreadable. "Really?" you say. "This is why you created a blog?" Not really. But the flyer, being a missive of propaganda to draw the eye, would not be doing its job if you can't read it. First rule of good advertising: legibility (I made that up--Google it--the first rule of advertising depends on which link you pick--wow, there's a philosophical allegory there somewhere). Anyhow, if there is any question as to what type of appointment I am offering, it falls into the consultative category. Offered to locals of the 845 area code as I'm not quite international yet.

Welcome

Hello and welcome to my blog about nothings, little things, somethings but definitely not all things. You've got things? Esoteric, not so easily explained, mystical, somewhat incomprehensible things? Don't post here. Kidding....yeeesh! Enjoy the musings of a philosophical, somewhat psychic tarot reader who loves the stories the cards and you tell.
